Microsoft Authenticator is a useful productivity app that allows you to set up two-factor authentication, password management, etc. The developers of this free app for Android and iOS, Microsoft, just added a new feature to the app that makes it even more convenient.

Password security is a rising concern as the amount of data breaches increases. We are constantly being told how important a strong password is and not to use the same password for different accounts. But how do you keep track of all these complicated passwords and the accounts they’re used for?

Microsoft Authenticator just added a feature that allows you to generate a strong password. This feature works alongside the Autofill feature that was released a year ago. Users of the apps Autofill will be able to create unique passwords that are random and hard to crack. The complex passwords will automatically contain a collection of letters, numbers, and special characters and will be set at the maximum number of characters for each account. You’ll be able to save the new password immediately after generating it, so there is no need to worry about forgetting it.

Even if you don’t use the Autofill feature, the password generator feature is still somewhat available. You can generate a strong password directly from the app, without using Autofill, by navigating to the ‘Passwords’ section of the app. Here, you can click on the options represented by three vertical dots to open the password generator.

With the latest update of Microsoft Authenticator, users can now create, change, store, and autofill passwords for apps and websites from their mobile devices. You can even sync this feature to your Chrome browser using a convenient extension. If you want to read more about this new feature, you can look at Microsoft’s official release.

Born and raised in South Africa I am the mother of two busy kids and one loving husband. Since leaving school I immediately started working and have been involved in many different industries where I learned a wide range of skills. Some of my skills range from marketing to management and even teaching special needs children, particularly those with severe developmental delays. I am a self-proclaimed holiday nut, taking any chance I can get to decorate and celebrate major holidays such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas, often planning these months in advance! I have a wide range of passions that I persue (as often as I can) such as reading, writing, bonsai, crafting, creating natural beauty products, listening to music and playing games (prefered platforms being PC and Xbox).
